Leadership Opportunities
Individual and Church Group Volunteers
There are so many ways for you and/or your church group to help contribute to Youth 2011 by volunteering, and we need as much help as we can get! If you (or a team from your church) would consider serving in any capacity at either site, please click for more information on the opportunities and a sign-up form for Purdue here or for Sacramento here.
Workshops:
We will offer youth and youth workers a variety of choices to participate in active and engaging learning experiences. On Thursday and Friday of each event, attendees can attend up to two workshops per day. We need creative, passionate and engaging people to serve as workshop leaders. If you (or someone you know) have special gifts, knowledge, or skills to share, we would like you to consider the opportunity to serve as a workshop leader for Youth 2011.
If you would like to apply, please fill out the application here and return it by October 31, 2010.
Discussion Groups:
Created around different interests and stages and places of life, these are small groups led by adult youth workers who gather with attendees (youth and/or youth workers) during breakout sessions for discussion on a few selected topics as well as casual conversation, idea-sharing, prayer, and debriefing of what we are experiencing. This is a great way to connect with others, get practical tools, or just enjoy some relaxed time together with people who are in similar situations. We need facilitators! We are seeking caring, engaging adults who are experienced and effective facilitators and discussion leaders. The ability to create a safe and open environment for sharing and for directing conversation is essential. If you would like to apply, please fill out the application here and return it by October 31, 2010.
Veteran Youth Workers Care Team:
We want to assemble a team of pastors and veteran youth workers who will volunteer time to meet with other youth workers to listen to their situations and offer advice and encouragement. This is not counseling or professional help! We simply seek veteran youth workers who possess a servant’s heart alongside a rich store of experiences to listen and care for other youth workers who could use some support during scheduled times (workshop and late night options) in the Youth Leader Lounge.
If you have at least 7 years youth ministry experience, a listening ear, and a heart for helping other youth workers, please fill out the application here and return it by Dec 31, 2010.
Youth Group “More Than” Servant Teams:
We have a lot of great experiences we want to offer at Youth 2011. However, to make it all come together, we need a lot of support. Would your youth group like to do more than just attend Youth 2011? Would you like to take an active role in making this an awesome event? We need groups to help with many tasks from setting up chairs to serving communion. If you would like to sign your group up to serve as a servant team for 30 minutes, 1 hour, or even during a meal time, please fill out the application here and return it as soon as you can!
“More Than” Youth Speakers:
Gracie Schram is a seemingly ordinary 12 year old girl from Kansas. God put a call on Gracie’s heart to help the residents of a rural village in Africa. She is making a huge difference in the world! To see more about Gracie’s story, click here.
On Saturday night at each event, we want to feature 3-4 United Methodist youth like Gracie who truly are living out the “More Than” theme. We are seeking youth ages 12-17 that with God’s help and guidance are doing extraordinary things. We want to help them tell their story from the main stage! Our Saturday night keynote speaker will speak before inviting the UMC youth on stage to share their story in a relaxing, informal interview style. (So the youth do not have to give a keynote type talk!) If you know of a youth whose story may inspire others who think they are ordinary to “Think again!” we want to hear about them. To submit your youth for consideration to share their story on the main stage, click here.
